Our Kennels
We have 9 kennels. Each with their own doghouse. They are all under roof and have concrete floors and lighting and water to make cleaning and disinfecting easy.  The kennels are surrounded by a 1/2 acre of fenced in yard to make exercise and play safe.   7 of the kennels house the adult dogs.  The other 2 kennels  house  all the future puppies from our breedings, after they get too big to stay in the house. All of our puppies are born and raised in the house until the age of 8 weeks. They are socialized with other adults, kids and dogs, along with everyday living, such as vacuums, cars and stairs. We also start them on house breaking (which ain't easy when you have 10 puppies at a time!).
Our Dogs
We have 7 dogs. Hammer, Artus, Hilti, Lathe, RouterAx and  Anka.  5 females & 2 males. We got all our dogs as small puppies and raised them underfoot. We searched all over for just the right puppies. They are from all over the country and the world. They range in variety from sable, black & red, black & tan to solid black. They all have excellent temperament and health.   Two of our dogs,  Artus & Anka are imported from Germany and are duel registered with the AKC and the SV.  Ax was whelped  here but both her parents are German imports.  Since there are 7 days to a week, each dog gets it's own special day in the house with the family. That way they get the more rounded experience of life inside and out.  Our dogs get exercised and played with everyday.  A busy, well trained GSD,  is a happy GSD. At our kennel we want you to come and play with our dogs before you decide on a puppy. That way you'll have an idea of what a full grown GSD will be like. Most other kennels don't offer that. Usually you can't even get close enough to pet the animals. Click HERE to see characteristics of a German Shepherd Dog.
Our Philosophy
We believe the German Shepherd Dog is the most loyal, loving, trustworthy and beautiful dog. However, they are very intelligent and need lots of exercise and play. If you don't stimulate them they will find their own form  of entertainment, like rearrange your furniture while you are out! A brisk 20 minute walk or a good game of catch should do the trick. You should NEVER hit your dog. A stern NO will fix any misbehavior. If you love your dog, they will love you back 10 fold, unconditionally. You won't find a better deal than that. Here at Bockhaus Kennels,  our goal is to breed a dog that will be healthy,  loyal, intelligent and look great. You can probably buy a cheaper German Shepherd Dog puppy, but honestly, you get what you pay for. These dogs are very popular and this caused over breeding. People will take any 2 GSD's and throw them together to make some puppies, sell them cheap ($300 or $400) and not care what kind of puppy they make. That's why hip dysplasia, cataracts, skin disease , poor temperament, (such as aggressiveness and skittishness) are common ailments in this and other breeds. We guarantee our dogs to be free of all of the above, if raised in the proper environment.  We strive to improve the breed with every mating.
Breeding & Care Program
We are a small,  hobby kennel,  therefore we only have 2 litters a year at the most. Our puppies are in high demand due to the selective  choices. We post a mating and give an estimate when the puppies are due. At that time you can reserve a puppy for a $200.00 deposit. First come first serve. If for some reason you don't like anything from that litter, we can hold your money for the next litter. Puppies go very fast so check back often for new arrivals.  First we decide what kind of litter we're looking for.  Then we take it from there and surely we will come up with at least a few out of that litter that meets all requirements. At the time of purchase we require you to sign a puppy contract to ensure the new puppy you purchase is going to a good and loving home. Gsd's have very sensitive skin & digestive tract. It is very important that you do not over bath them. They have two layers of fur to keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The layer closest to the body is their undercoat. If you brush them with an undercoat rake and finish off with a flat wire brush twice a week, they will stay clean. You should only bath them about once every 4 or 5 months with an oatmeal shampoo and rinse with a conditioner that is unscented. You can also supplement them with omega fish oils in a pill form that will keep their coat shiny and full with less shedding. As for their food, they should not get any corn based dog food. Any dog food  sold at a supermarket is probably not going to work. Go to your local pet supply or farmers supply and check out what they have. First ingredient should always be chicken, lamb or beef.  Make sure it's high in omega 3&6. Most important DO NOT over feed your puppy or dog. Over weight dogs put stress on joints and can lead to further problems down the road.
